It was one year ago today that I was wheeled into the intensive care unit at 2 a.m, bleeding out and near death.  After seven hours of surgery, Dr. James Camel and the wonderful doctors and nurses that assisted him saved my life. I have not forgotten them.

The tragic loss recently of Laci, Reagan, and Hunter compels me to believe it is incumbent upon me to do two things: to keep them (and their families) in my heart forever, as we do with Karissa, and other loved ones we have lost.  And to be properly grateful for the fact that I am still here, and eternally in debt to the loving family (and girlfriend) that, upon learning of my ordeal, offered to do anything at all for me that I needed.

Taking a moment today to contemplate the glorious miracle of life, recognize its fragility, and never take it for granted...thank you all for being there for me in my hour of need.

I will also never forget that.

Love,

Bob

Gratitude is such a wonderful place to reside. Well said and when you, Kathi and our family go thru difficult times - the faith and grace shared....well, it inspires me.

I keep the booklet from Laci, Reagan, and Hunter's memorial service standing up on my coffee table, against a stack of CD's, so I can see them every day when I eat.  What I see is Laci and Reagan as pretty as pretty can be (Reagan with flowers in her hair!), and Hunter laughing at DEFCON 3 level....sweet.  A beautiful picture of the whole family on the next page.  Where Danny gets his courage, I have no idea.

Well said, Jim and Bob.

Tragedy is a strange monster that often sets off a little light in each of us that seems to counterbalance the negative effects of the tragedy itself; bringing out the best in those of us who otherwise might have continued on in our otherwise carefree lives.

Laci, Reagan, and Hunter leaving us with such brilliant examples of the kind of people we want to be and hope to become; Danny, and Zeke, shouldering on with faith when nature would have them curse God; the rest of us realizing how much we loved them then and even more now. Family, faith, and friends are what help us move on in the face of disaster.

Thanks to each of you, especially Kathi, Robin, countless others, for your part in being there for Danny, Zeke, Kathi, Robin, and the rest of the family.
Love, Bill

All your words have touched my soul so deeply. Bob you are a living miracle. We are all so very grateful you are still with us. Your generosity to Danny and Zeke along with all of you and all the kind things you have done for them and us I know is recorded in heaven and forever in our hearts. What you have done in your own ways to bless them and Robin and I will always be remembered by us.

In our big family we learned from Mom and Dad that we do hard things but we never lose faith.  We cry together, we laugh together, we praise God in good times and in bad. And recently with Laci, Reagan and Hunter’s passing you have all held us up when we could not stand on our own.  We are indebted to each of you and so very grateful for that kind of love you have given so freely.  Your kind words about Laci, Reagan and Hunter and Bob that you look at their pictures fill my heart with such joy that you knew them and could love them like we did.

I am in Prather with Danny and Zeke and I have watched them do very hard things but I know through the whispering of the Spirit while pleading on my knees that the birds will sing again for them someday. They are giants in my eyes, extraordinary father and son (and we just realized) named after great prophets back to back in the in the Old Testament. They are a mighty team. I have seen the power of God work through them, refining them and strengthening them. We have felt angels on both sides of the veil.

We are a family of miracle believers and even though Laci is not with us her miracles are still perfectly intact as is her beautiful Spirit.
Bob is a miracle and so loved and so needed in our family and in all the lives you have touched along the way including Laci’s.

Thanks again Bob for this day and reminder. How truly blessed I feel to have you all as siblings and Mom as our dear and loving Matriarch.
I am the luckiest sister and daughter.

Love you all,
Kathi

Just read this again for the third time, I appreciate it more with each reading.  Kathi, just wanted to let you know how proud, not to mention how fortunate, I am to be your brother.  There's nothing I can really say that would measure up to what I need to say but wanted to tell you that anyway.

Love always,

Bob
